Julian Newman Library Newbery Award
The Julian Newman Newbery Award is given to 3rd and 4th grade students who read 15 Newbery Award or Newbery Honor books during the school year. Students may begin this project in 3rd grade and continue in 4th grade. Students are responsible for recording the title and other information in the Newbery notebook kept in the Library.The criteria is that students must read 15 total Newbery Award or Newbery Honor books in order to receive the Newbery Award plaque at the end of the school year. Students may choose to read 11 Newbery Award or Newbery Honor winning books with 100 pages or more and 4 Newbery Award winning books with 100 pages or less. There is a special Newbery section in the library and most Newbery books are labeled with a special yellow sticker on the spine.
